A bond is like a Fixed Deposit but instead of giving your money to a bank, you give it to a company or government. They pay you a fixed interest (the “coupon”) on a schedule, then return your principal at maturity. Predictable income — that’s the whole pitch.

Corporate bonds (NCDs) typically give Fixed Returns of 8 to 14%. Government bonds give fixed returns of 6 to 8%.

You can buy or sell on NSE or BSE anytime, just like equity. The entire Bond Market is SEBI regulated.
