About the Issuer

ESFBL is a Kerala-based small finance bank that commenced operations in March 2017 and was granted scheduled bank status by the RBI in December 2018. The institution was promoted by K Paul Thomas, who holds a 6.05% stake as of June 30, 2025, and brings over 35 years of industry experience. The bank traces its origins to the ESAF group, which began operating in the microfinance space as an NGO in 1995 and subsequently established ESAF Microfinance & Investments Private Limited in 2007 before obtaining a banking license. Focused on retail banking and financial inclusion, ESFBL provides comprehensive banking solutions and digital platforms for marginalized customers with limited access to formal credit channels. Its diversified product portfolio includes microfinance, housing finance, business loans, loans against property, and gold loans. The bank's operations are guided by a highly experienced management team and governed by an 11-member board—comprising a strong mix of independent, nominee, and executive directors—ensuring robust strategic and corporate oversight.
