Slice Small Finance Bank Limited

Slice Small Finance Bank Limited, formerly North East Small Finance Bank Limited, was incorporated in July 2016 as a wholly owned subsidiary of RGVN (North East) Microfinance Limited and began operating as a Small Finance Bank in October 2017, with its registered headquarters in Guwahati, Assam. The bank's origins trace back to Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Nidhi (RGVN), a society that started microfinance operations in 1995 with initial corpus support from IDBI, IFCI, NABARD, and Dorabji Tata Trust, along with operational backing from SIDBI. RGVN (North East) Microfinance Limited was incorporated in 2008, subsequently obtaining an NBFC licence in August 2010 and NBFC-MFI certification from the RBI in 2014; the entity received in-principle RBI approval to establish a Small Finance Bank in 2015, and the bank was accorded Scheduled Commercial Bank status in FY2019. On October 3, 2023, the RBI issued a No Objection Certificate for the amalgamation of the Slice group — comprising Garagepreneurs Internet Pvt. Ltd., Quadrillion Finance Pvt. Ltd., and Intergalactory Foundry Private Limited — with the bank. This merger was completed on October 27, 2024, transferring all assets and liabilities of the Slice group to the bank; on the same date, RGVN (North East) Microfinance Limited, the erstwhile holding company, was reverse-merged into the bank. Following the merger, Mr. Rajan Bajaj emerged as the largest shareholder, with other significant stakeholders including Gunosy Capital, Blume Ventures, Tiger Global, and Insight Partners.
